Update: The Branch Vision reflects the feedback we received from colleagues, to provide a clearer and more relevant foundation for branches. It outlines the goals, principles, and stakeholder groups that guide branch activity, but does not prescribe detailed guidance, as each branch operates within its own context and local plans will naturally differ. A wider, SSAFA-wide Community Engagement Strategy will follow in due course.
The Community Engagement Strategy will cover the broad aims of our community engagement work and the role of branches in facilitating this. Many branches already have a robust community engagement strategy for their local areas, however others may be less well established. The aims laid out in the Community Engagement Strategy will provide the principles for a unified SSAFA approach, whilst recognising that each branch will have different geographies, volunteering expertise and community dynamics to work with.
The Community Engagement Strategy will provide a guiding base for branches to build from and allow them to cultivate their own program of activities that best suits their community, volunteers and beneficiaries. The strategy will include guidance and resources for branches to use where needed and will promote a unified culture of sharing ideas and best practice. This will help create a consistent and strong SSAFA message and provide adaptable support to all branches.
Below is a summary of the role of branches under NDP:
