The BABF is a charity that helps former and serving BA staff who may be suffering hardship. there are approximately 50,000 former (retired) BA staff worldwide, but the majority live in the UK. On average, BABF receives approximately 50 applicants a year, which are administrated by the BABF administration staff. The BABF trustees operate a small group of volunteers who undertake casework in the UK and abroad, but there are many areas where they have been unable to recruit volunteers.

When BABF receive a case that their own caseworkers cannot undertake, the BABF will contact the nearest SSAFA branch and make a request for a SSAFA caseworker to undertake the case, not all these cases will involve ex-military. Once the case has been completed, the BABF will forward £150 case working fee to the branch.

BABF are not on Mosaic and therefore the case should be recorded on a Form A, this should then be sent to BABF.

If you have any questions regarding this process, you should contact The Casework Support Manager by emailing [email protected]
