They have some restricted funds relating to where people were born, what campaigns they have been involved in (i.e. what medals they have). Medals for Reservists are important as it changes the amount of financial support that can be offered.
If in doubt call them for advice.
For serving personnel belonging to the Rifles Battalion please direct them to Rifles Welfare as they can do their own short form and provide immediate support. Only in rare cases will they refer them to SSAFA as the Battalion and general Army Welfare should generally be supporting and it often causes issues in the long term if they are cut out.
From 2018 onwards they have good records and can verify service, prior to that it is patchy and some antecedent Regiments have good records e.g. Devon and Dorsets (D&D’s) and others have nothing as it was all lost e.g. Royal Gloucester Berkshire Wiltshires (RGBW).
