Blesma can only provide grants to Blesma members. Blesma is happy to accept new members who meet their criteria.
Blesma is a membership organisation for those who have served in the British Armed Forces and have suffered life changing injury, either during or after their service and may therefore be eligible for Blesma Membership. The injury does not need to have been sustained during combat, it could have happened during a training exercise or have been due to an accident or illness whilst serving.
Please provide a Blesma membership number when requesting financial assistance for a member.
If it is unclear if a veteran is a Blesma member please contact Blesma before submitting a request via Mosaic.
Dedicated to assisting serving and ex-Service men and women who have suffered life-changing limb loss or the use of a limb, an eye or sight. We support these men and women in their communities throughout the UK.
There are 9 Blesma Support Officers (BSO) covering the UK supporting their members.
- They carry out home visits and online assessments
- Provide grants and support with prosthetics, activities and benefits
- Grants applications are considered on an individual basis based on need
Blesma Members can apply directly for a Garden grant by downloading and completing the form on the Blesma website
For amounts under £2,000 the BSO will complete an assessment using their own internal Form 23 and the members needs will be met internally
For other grants amounts over £2,000 the BSO will complete a Form A assessment and whilst Blesma will pledge they will also request support from other APs on Mosaic
In certain situations, the BSO will assess that the Blesma members needs are such that the casework should be performed by another Caseworking organisation and will either refer the COBSEO contact on Mosaic or will signpost the client to contact directly. Cases should not be transferred once past the initial triage and underway.
