WRNS BT will still exist as an assistance provider but towards the end of the year (2023) their contact details are very likely to change as all administration will be taken on by RNRMC – i.e. they will still be on the drop down list for AP’s on Mosaic. The following information maybe useful to you when considering where to almonise:

  • The Women’s Royal Naval Service (WRNS) was reintroduced in 1939 and continued to exist until closure on 1 Nov 93, when those ladies still serving transferred to the Royal Navy.
  • Women who completed service prior to 1 Nov 93 are entitled to consideration in their own right by the WRNS BT only and not the RNBT (unless they have an affiliated link through marriage etc.).
  • Those who served in the WRNS and transferred to the RN on 1 Nov 93 are entitled to consideration by both charities in their own right.
  • Those women who joined up on or after 1 Nov 93 were/are RN personnel, and are not entitled to consideration by the WRNS BT.
  • WRNS BT is not a subsidiary of the RNBT; they are separate charities. When completing the Mosaic drop-down menu to identify service, select ‘Other’ and enter ‘WRNS’, and if they have dual service type ‘WRNS/RN’ in the new box.
  • If an application for assistance for a former Wren is received by RNBT they will not usually refer it on to WRNS BT, but come back to SSAFA and advise that direct submission to WRNS BT be made, slowing the process
