On Hold Statuses

Updated on

If you or a volunteer you manage is looking to take a break from volunteering, please review the How to take a break from volunteering guidance.

Assemble has three On Hold statuses, each controlling communication and event participation differently.

1. On Hold – Can be contacted
This option should be used if a volunteer wants to take a break from volunteering, however doesn't mind being contacted during the hold period.

  • They will continue to receive new GA messages (including bulk), replies, and any notifications for events they were already added to before the hold began.
  • External emails sent to their GA address are delivered as normal.
  • Volunteers can access GoAssemble and can log in normally.
  • However, they cannot be added to or invited to new events while on hold.
  • Volunteers will not receive notifications alerts of new messages to their personal email.

2. On Hold – Prefers not to be contacted
This option should be used if a volunteer wants to take a break from volunteering and does not wish to be contacted during the hold period.

  • They will not receive newly created GA messages, but they can still receive replies to conversations they initiated.
  • They continue to receive notifications for events they were already part of before going on hold.
  • They cannot be added to new events while on hold.
  • External emails are delivered.
  • Volunteers will not receive notifications alerts of new messages to their personal email.
  • Volunteers can access GoAssemble and can log in normally.

3. On Hold – Should not access the system
This option can only be applied by volunteer managers and should only be used in relation to disaplinary matters where access to the system should be resitricted.

  • The volunteer will not be able to log in and access the system.
  • They will not receive internal messages, replies, bulk messages, or event notifications.
  • External emails sent to their GA inbox are delivered.
  • Volunteers will not receive notifications alerts of new messages to their personal email.
  • Internal GA messages sent during this period are permanently blocked and will not be delivered after the hold ends.

GoAssemble does not notify senders when a message cannot be delivered. There are no warnings, alerts, or delivery‑failure messages.
