Password and privacy

Updated on

You can update your privacy settings and consent at any time.

Occasionally, SSAFA will need to renew your consent preferences, so you will be redirected to the privacy and consent screen after logging into Assemble and you won't be able to proceed until completing this step.

To find out more about this, please visit the My data page which can be accessed by clicking on your initials (or photo if you've uploaded one) in the right-hand corner of the top menu. Alternatively contact your supervisor.

Two-factor authentication

Two-factor authentication is a way to add an extra layer of security to your Assemble user account if you would like. Instead of just needing your email address and password to log in, you'll also be asked to enter a code that's sent directly to you. In Assemble you'll not be asked for the code every time but just from time to time.

To turn this on and choose one of the following options:

Email - You'll get an email with a six-digit code to your personal email which you can copy and paste the code. Please make sure the correct email address is registered and marked as primary if you have more than one email address saved.

SMS (text message) - Before choosing this option make sure you have added your mobile phone number to your profile in Assemble (in the Contacts tab) or you won't be able to use this method.

Authentication app - If you don't have one downloaded on your phone yet you will need to download it before choosing this option. Authentication apps, like Google Authenticator, are used by lots of different systems as a way to have two-factor authentication on your accounts, websites and other online services.

Changing your password

To change your password, you must first enter your current password and then your new password. Please be aware that passwords must contain:

  • At least eight characters
  • At least one lower case letter
  • At least one upper case letter
  • At least one number

If you ever forget your password you can go to the login page and click Forgotten Password for an email to be sent to you to reset it.
