Two-Factor Authentication

Updated on

This article provides details for all GoAssemble users on how to set up their two-factor authentication (2FA) preferences.

What is Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)?

Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of security to your GoAssemble account. It means that even if someone knows your password, they still can’t log in without a second code that’s sent directly to you.

You might have seen this before when shopping online, like when your bank texts you a code before you can complete a payment.

Two-factor authentication is enabled, as standard, when your account is created and is essential for data security. You can edit your 2FA settings to send the authentication code to either your personal email or phone, or you can use an authentication app.

Editing your Two-Factor Authentication Settings

Go to your GoAssemble account settings by clicking View profile details after clicking on your initials in the top right corner of the screen.

You will be taken to your User Details page and there you should click on the Password & privacy tab.

Then choose one of the following methods to receive your security code:

Option 1: Email

Important: To select this option you must have a personal email address saved in GoAssemble and marked as your primary email. You can see how to update your contact details here.

  • When selecting this option you’ll receive a 6-digit code by email.
  • Copy the code from your inbox and paste it into GoAssemble when asked.
  • Once set up you will receive a code, to your email, every time you log into GoAssemble.

Option 2: Text Message (SMS)

Important: To select this option you must have a phone number saved in GoAssemble. You can see how to update your contact details here.

  • You’ll get a 6-digit code by text message.
  • Type the code into GoAssemble.
  • Once set up you will receive a code, via text, every time you log into GoAssemble.

Option 3: Authentication App

Important: To select this option you must download an authenticator app to your phone. This is a special app (like Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator) that gives you a code, allowing you to log in. These apps are commonly used for secure logins across many websites and services.

  • Once you have downloaded an authenticator app, select add new in the app and scan the code provided by GoAssemble (the screenshot below is an example, you will be provided with a unique QR code).
  • The app will provide a 6-digit code.
  • Type the code into GoAssemble.
  • Once set up you will receive a code, via the app, every time you log into GoAssemble.
