5 Mar: Continuing the Conversation - Supporting your journey – Answers to common questions

Updated on

The below information was sent, via email to all volunteers and staff across SSAFA, on 5 March 2026.

To: all volunteers, employees and trustees

Dear colleagues,

Focus: Supporting your journey – Answers to common questions

As we continue to move forward with the Network Delivery Project (NDP), your feedback remains vital in helping us smooth the path for everyone involved. We recognise that adopting new ways of working is a shared journey, and we are committed to providing the steady guidance and clear resources you need to succeed in your role.

In this update, we will focus on the most commonly asked questions, to ensure you have the clarity and support needed to continue delivering the on-the-ground services our beneficiaries rely on.

How can I stay updated on NDP developments?

To ensure all the latest resources are in one place, there is a dedicated NDP Information Hub on the Volunteer Knowledgebase. This is your ‘source of truth’ for the project - whether your branch is weeks away from migration or you are already working under the new model. Highlights include:

Who is in the Regional team to support volunteers on the ground?

We have the SSAFA Regional Roles: Responsibilities and Collaboration Overview guide to provide a visual guide to demonstrate how key regional roles intersect with each other and work together to support our network. Follow this link to download the guide so you know who to contact when needed.

We also have the Welfare Operations Services Overview Pack, accompanied by more personal ‘Meet Your Team’ documents. You can find out exactly who is working alongside you to support our shared mission by following these links: for caseworkers and for branch volunteers.

How do I access volunteer training?

GoAssemble (GA) training: When your branch enters the NDP preparation phase, you will be invited via NDP transition emails to sign up for training on GoAssemble, our volunteer management system. Our Learning and Development (L&D) team offers regular live sessions so you can explore the system alongside colleagues and ask questions in real-time.

How to register:

  • Log onto your Learning Base account.
  • Once logged in, go to the “Booking Courses” tab. In the search bar, type “GoAssemble” and the course dates should appear.

Mandatory training: If you are already using GA and have received a reminder to complete your mandatory training, please log in to your GA account and click the “My Training” button under the calendar on the right-hand side of the Home screen. There, you will be able to view the training assigned to you.

Training support: If you are having trouble finding a suitable training session/course, need to update an existing booking, or have any general enquiries about volunteer training, please reach out to L&D team at L&[email protected].

How can I ensure I receive migration communications?

Critical migration reminders will be sent to both your SSAFA email address and your personal email address, four weeks, two weeks and one day before you migrate.

Please note that a personal email address is required to set up your GA account.

We are aware that some NDP communications are occasionally filtered into junk or spam folders within volunteers’ personal email addresses. There are two steps to help ensure future emails arrive in your personal main inbox:

If you find our email in your junk or spam folders of your personal email account, move it to your Inbox or mark it as “Not junk”.

  • Add our email address ([email protected]) to the “Contacts” in your personal email account.
  • We recommend checking your junk or spam folder once a week to ensure no vital updates have been missed.

Thank you for your continued engagement and for everything you do to support our beneficiaries.

Where can I get more information?

The NDP Frequently Asked Questions document covers a range of topics addressing questions raised during and since the trials.

The Volunteer Knowledgebase is accessible to all volunteers and employees and contains detailed information on processes and procedures for all volunteer activities.

The Vision for Community Engagement in Branches document was developed following feedback from across the network and outlines the approach for increasing our reach, promoting understanding of our work, and building resilience.

NDP Information Hub on SSAFAnet and the NDP Information Hub on the Volunteer Knowledgebase both provide a variety of information on NDP – including caseworker and community engagement feedback videos, Town Hall presentations, transition guidance and copies of past updates in 2026 and in 2025.

If you have further questions, please contact the NDP Project team: [email protected].

Many thanks,

Kett McAfee, Welfare Operations Project Manager
