Branch Honorary Life Membership (BHLM) can be awarded by a branch to a local volunteer as a form of recognition of contribution and support to SSAFA, and to retain continued connection between the volunteer and SSAFA. A BHLM should only be awarded to a volunteer who is no longer actively volunteering within the branch, however they can still be actively volunteering for another service (eg Mentor).

Those with a BHLM will receive a certificate signed by the branch chair and/or the branch president.

BHLM will be recorded centrally by the Volunteer Experience Support Team, to ensure that we accurately capture and celebrate the outstanding contributions of these volunteers. However, the relationship with the individual will be maintained by the branch.

Branch Honorary Life Membership certificates can be ordered from the Volunteer Experience Support Team who will arrange for the certificate to be printed and despatched for signature (by the branch president or branch chair).

If the volunteer is active in a non-branch role, for example a mentor, then the BHLM will be recorded on their GA profile as an award.

Requesting a BHLM Certificate - To order a certificate and to enable volunteer records to be updated requests are to be submitted by completing the BHLM Award Form.

Certificates will be printed for the signatory to sign and insert the date of award.

Certificates must be printed and sent for signing within 2 weeks for receipt of certificate request.

Producing a certificate

The VEA will create the certificate using the BHLM template, editing the recipient's name, and the signature strip as necessary.

The certificate will be saved as a pdf and sent to the printers, along with the delivery address for printing and postage.

The VEA will confirm with the person who submitted the request that they certificate is being printed.
