The Community Engagement Manager plays a pivotal role in SSAFA's mission by leading and enabling the community network of branches to raise awareness, funds, and engagement within the region. As the main point of contact and support for the branch network, the Community Engagement Manager works closely with colleagues—both staff and volunteers—as part of the wider regional team.
This role is essential in fostering a welcoming and supportive environment for volunteers, providing them with opportunities to connect and gather, thereby building a strong sense of community and belonging. The Community Engagement Manager is responsible for coordinating and developing a network of volunteers, guiding them in their efforts to raise awareness and funds for SSAFA, and ensuring alignment with the strategic direction set by the Director of Welfare Operations.
Key responsibilities include:
- Fostering and nurturing a community network of volunteers to raise awareness, funds, and engagement.
- Supporting branches in creating a supportive environment and program of activities for volunteers.
- Supporting and guiding Serving Community volunteers in regional activities.
- Collaborating with other Community Engagement Managers and key partners to maintain and communicate policies, procedures, and guidance.
- Ensuring best practices in volunteer management and recruitment.
- Acting as the main point of contact for branch network support.
- Coordinating branch fundraising efforts and building relationships with key stakeholders.
- Leading compliance activities and training for community engagement volunteers.
- Handling concerns and complaints in line with relevant policies.
- Monitoring and evaluating the success and impact of community engagement activities.
