Volunteer Mentor Agreement

Volunteer Mentors are an integral and valued part of SSAFA’s Mentoring service and without volunteers we wouldn’t be able to provide the support we do. 

We believe that the volunteer relationship is built on trust and mutual understanding.   We are here to support you throughout your time with SSAFA.  We hope you find your volunteer experience enjoyable and rewarding.

This agreement sets out:

What support you can expect from us when you volunteer

The expectations from you as a volunteer

Volunteer Mentor Role expectations:

  • Attend any role specific training required.
  • Complete mandatory training in line with SSAFA Policies
  • Carry out your role with commitment and dedication.
  • Engage with Mandatory Supervision
  • Follow and operate within the policies and procedures set out by SSAFA
  • At responsibly and within the law
  • Maintain confidentiality of SSAFA’s beneficiaries, our team and our procedures.
  • Treat fairly without judgement, value and respect our beneficiaries.
  • Work collaboratively with staff and volunteers

In Return we will:

  • Provide an in-depth introduction to the organisation.
  • Provide role specific training to ensue you have the knowledge, skills and confidence to carry out your role.
  • Give information about SSAFA’s policies and procedures.
  • Provide regular supervision to support you in your role.
  • Reimburse agreed expenses.
  • Strive to resolve and concerns fairly and reasonably, applying our complaints procedure when its needed.
  • Respect and listen to your feedback, and keep you informed of any changes.
  • Ensure your health, well-being and safety is at the heart of all we do.
  • Encourage a positive and supportive volunteer experience.

This agreement is to ensure the volunteer understands the expectations of the role and the support available to them.  

It is not intended to be a legally binding contract and either SSAFA or the volunteer can end the agreement at any time.
