Caseworkers help to deliver vital services to our beneficiaries, improving lives every day. By nurturing and empowering your peers, you can help ensure we effectively meet the needs of the Armed Forces community, both now, and in the future.
In growing our network of volunteers, peer support is an invaluable source of help available to new and returning caseworkers. As part of an integrated team of staff and volunteers, you will play a key role in building confidence, competence, and a sense of community around caseworkers, enabling them to deliver high quality casework and thrive in role.
You must be an active caseworker, fully up to date with training and vetting checks.
What you will be doing
- Providing remote support to select newly qualified or returning caseworkers from across your region, answering process and systems questions where appropriate
- Allowing caseworkers to shadow your own case visits when requested
- Sharing local knowledge that can be harnessed in support of beneficiaries
- Keeping the regional team informed of any support needs you identify
- Referring volunteers to the regional office team for case specific questions
- Joining a virtual monthly catch-up of all Peer Support Volunteers
The skills you need
- Active SSAFA caseworker with at least 6 months recent experience, up to date with training and checks
- Friendly and approachable, with good listening skills
- Basic IT skills, and frequent user of Assemble and Mosaic systems
- Keeping up to date with SSAFA news, service updates and training
- Be a positive SSAFA role model, promoting our values and BRAVE standards
