Feedback Phase

Updated on

From 27 May, to 10 July, Culture Ambassadors will be hosting a series of small, facilitated feedback sessions, both online and in‑person.

These sessions are designed to create space to:

  • Take part in open, respectful discussion.
  • Explore the draft Culture Action Plan and the proposed actions.
  • Understand how the proposed actions link back to the Culture Review findings.
  • Share your views on what resonates (or doesn’t) based on your own experiences.

Nothing will be finalised during this phase. The feedback gathered will help shape the next iteration of the plan before it is agreed and taken forward.

How the sessions will work

To help ensure meaningful discussion and that everyone can contribute:

  • Each session will be hosted by two Culture Ambassadors.
  • Sessions will include up to 12 colleagues.
  • Feedback and themes will be captured anonymously.

You can book a slot on one of the sessions through LearningBase.

While we really encourage everyone to attend a session if they can, there will also be other ways to share your feedback. More details on this will be shared in coming weeks.

A safe and focused space for discussion

These sessions are intended to be safe, respectful and well‑boundaried, giving colleagues space to:

  • Understand more about the draft Culture Action Plan.
  • Reflect honestly on how it aligns with their experiences at SSAFA.
  • Help refine actions so they genuinely address the challenges identified in the Culture Review report.

To help keep these conversations supportive and focused for everyone, it is also important to be clear about what the sessions are not for.

What the sessions are not for

The sessions are not intended to be used for:

  • Raising individual concerns, complaints or grievances
(These should continue to be raised through existing routes and procedures, including the Complaints Policy and Grievance Policy)
  • Discussing unrelated projects or initiatives (such as the Network Delivery Project (NDP), Annual Members’ Meeting (AMM), or other change activity).
  • Operational or role‑specific queries
This is not a forum for resolving day‑to‑day operational issues.
  • Training or workshop-style activities
These sessions are about listening and discussion, not skills development or learning delivery.
  • Pushing particular ideas, agendas or seeking consensus
The aim is not to “win” people over or land on a single shared view, but to gather a wide range of perspectives.

Having clear boundaries helps ensure that everyone attending has a shared understanding of the purpose and feels able to contribute openly and constructively.

Why your involvement matters

This feedback phase is a vital part of shaping what happens next, and your perspective genuinely matters.

As an organisation, SSAFA has never brought together colleagues from across roles and regions and communities in this way to help co‑create our cultural direction in this way. That makes this an important - genuinely exciting - moment in our journey.

We’d also like to thank and recognise our Culture Ambassadors, who are playing an invaluable role by facilitating conversations, listening carefully, and helping ensure voices from across SSAFA are heard.
