SSAFA provides a transitional one-to-one, face-to-face mentoring service to service leavers, their partners and/or families from the Army, Navy and RAF, regardless of reason for discharge, for up to two years from discharge.

By providing a long-term dedicated support package, we provide a listening ear which enables us to guide, support and signpost individuals in areas of transition. We empower, build self-confidence in individuals and their families and enable them to achieve a successful transition.

Our service is provided by a dedicated team of volunteers and our recruitment is targeted at areas of need. In order to become a mentor, there is a four stage process: application, telephone interview, residential course and vetting.

Please note that serving personnel are not eligible to become volunteer mentors.
