Here are some of the key employee roles, and their responsibilities, that a volunteer in SSAFA will interact and collaborate with:
- Volunteer Development Manager (VDM)
- Regional Manager (RM)
- Community Engagement Manager (CEM)
This list is not exhaustive and depending on your volunteer role there are various additional employee roles that you will interact with closely.
Volunteer Development Manager (VDM)
VDM responsibilities: The Volunteer Development Manager (VDM) is dedicated to designing, delivering and supporting a first-class volunteer experience at SSAFA. By collaborating with internal and external stakeholders at a local, regional and cross organisation level, including both staff and volunteers, the VDM will promote best practice in volunteering to ensure the organisation can attract, support and retain volunteers to meet the needs of our beneficiaries. They will support the implementation of the volunteer strategy and promote the strategic value and impact of volunteering across the whole organisation, to ensure it remains a priority focus.
Regional Manager (RM)
Enabling SSAFA to provide consistent, timely and quality support to beneficiaries, the role will lead and manage the delivery of the casework service and community engagement programme at a regional level through an integrated team of volunteers and staff. The role is responsible for the high standard of delivery and continuous improvement of both casework and community engagement according to the strategic direction as set by the senior leadership team, ensuring services are delivered in line with SSAFA’s values and standards in order to meet beneficiary need.
Community Engagement Manager (CEM)
The Community Engagement Manager leads and enables the community network of branches in raising awareness, funds and engagement for SSAFA within the region. The Community Engagement Manager is the main point of contact and support for the branch network (for community engagement activities), working closely with colleagues – staff and volunteers – as part of the wider regional team. As well as raising awareness, funds and engagement, the branch network is also designed to provide a place for all volunteers to connect and gather in the region to build a sense of community and belonging.
