What is NDP?

Updated on

What is the Network Delivery Project (NDP)?

NDP is SSAFA's plan to improve how we support our beneficiaries and volunteers. Aiming to develop a sustainable model that will deliver:

  • High quality and consistent welfare support, by transforming our welfare delivery.

  • Strengthen, grow and support our network of volunteers.

  • Ensure SSAFA remains sustainable and effective into the future, to weather the challenges that we now face.

Why?

NDP was created to address the challenges that SSAFA faces, these being:

  • The increasing complexity of need from our beneficiaries.
  • Increased regulations.
  • Changing volunteer trends.
  • Financial pressures.

Key Aspects

Some of the key aspects of NDP are as follows:

  • Caseworkers continue to be the key contact for our beneficiaries, being supported by the Regional Office who manage and oversee all casework activities.
  • Volunteers and employees share the workload to provide the best support possible for our beneficiaries.
  • Branches focus on providing a sense of community and belonging for all SSAFA volunteers, as well as representing SSAFA in their local communities through community engagement and fundraising activities.
  • Volunteers are supported by their regional employee team, as well as by central employees across directorates.

After a successful trial period the NDP model is being rolled out across all of SSAFA, this process is ongoing and will continue through to the end of June 2026.
